Static Electricity:

Often, the common occurrences can cause untold damage to sensitive equipment and its highly vulnerable parts. One such culprit is Static electricity. The cause for such a state of affairs is usually due to friction and the separation of materials. Technically, it is called triboelectric generation. Some materials are more prone to generating static electricity than others. Among the greatest generators of static electricity are people. It can readily be shown how in ordinary ambient conditions, a person’s electrical charge, measured in volts, is constantly changing, swinging up or down at every step, as they sit or rise, when they touch things, or as another person passes nearby. Consequently, if people handle static-sensitive devices (ESDS) without appropriate precautions, there is a real risk they will unwittingly damage them.

How does this happen?

Static Electricity happens due to the following reasons. Whenever two materials come close to each other, electrons are transferred from one material to another, leaving both materials charged. Since electrons have a negative charge. The material that acquires electrons becomes negatively charged. While the one that surrenders electrons becomes positively charged.

  • Touch Pads: A specially designed Conductive Synthetic Polymeric Sheet is used in the production of the Electrostatic Discharge Touchpad.
